Frequently asked questions
Is this car detailing course suitable for complete beginners?
Yes. It starts from the very beginning: what to buy, what order to work in, and why each step matters. You don’t need any experience. If you’ve ever washed your own car and wondered why it still looks dull, this will explain it.
Do I need to buy expensive equipment first?
No. The guide covers the tools and chemicals that are worth your money and the ones that aren’t. You can start with a modest kit and build it up as you improve or as the work comes in.
Can I use this to start a car detailing or valeting business?
It gives you the technical foundations every detailer needs: washing, paint decontamination, interiors, glass and protection. Those skills are what customers pay for.
What’s the difference between car valeting and car detailing?
In the UK, “valeting” usually means a thorough clean, inside and out. “Detailing” goes further, with deep cleaning, paint correction and protection to bring a car back to its best. In the US and most other countries, people just say “detailing”. The techniques in this course apply wherever you are.
How will I receive the course?
After checkout, the guide is emailed to the address you gave. It usually arrives within minutes. If you can’t find it, check your spam or promotions folder, or call or email us and we’ll sort it.
Is it a video course or a written guide?
It’s a step-by-step written guide with photos and step by step proceses, so you can read it on your phone and refer back to it while you work on the car.
Can I follow the course if I live outside the UK?
Yes. The methods in this course work on any car, anywhere in the world. Our students and customers are in the UK, Ireland, the USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa, and it suits anyone who reads English. (In the UK we call it valeting and in the US it’s auto detailing, but the techniques are exactly the same.)
Will this teach me to clean my own car safely?
Yes, and it’s a good reason to buy it even if you never want to do this for money. Most paint damage, swirl marks and scratches come from poor washing and drying methods. The guide shows you how to avoid them.
What does the guide cover?
Tools and equipment, wheel cleaning, prep and pre-wash, engine bay detailing, the full wash method, paint decontamination, protection and drying, streak-free glass, carpet and upholstery cleaning, steam cleaning, and interior protection and enhancement.
How long does the course take?
Most people read it in couple of hours, then practise on their own car over a weekend. You keep it, so you can go back to any section whenever you need it.
Do you offer hands-on training as well?
Yes. If you’d rather learn in person, we run practical training. Many people read the guide first so they arrive already knowing the basics. Our in person training is 3 days of intensive training at our studio, teaching paint correction, ceramic coatings, deep cleaning and business strategy and marketing to experience professionals and complete beginners.
